Wet rocks

Not my usual thing to draw these studies on weeknights, but was looking for a way to relax and I guess this was it for this evening. Turned out a little more stressful than expected (as it always does LOL) but I'm okay with that.

Same problem experienced with this one as with all the others, would have loved to get into detailing a lot more however, I am finally beginning to understand that the goal of this is more about understanding the forms, placement, perspective, value, color and on and on, than it is about rendering the perfect masterpiece.

That being said, this is what I learned through the experience. I need to block in with harder brush strokes from the beginning which will help throughout the painting. The many forms of the rocks and waves in this one had me waste much of my time catching up what I should have put down early on. So Form comes before value... She says,aAs she slaps her forehead with her palm, realizing that she has discovered that elementary fact so long down the line LOL.

May try another this week, but for now...my bed awaits.
