Profile braid study progress

I always appreciate when artists either upload their progress or live stream while painting.  As I won't be live streaming any time soon, I thought I'd share my learning process with you guys through these short and very condensed screen shots taken throughout the process of the profile braid 2 hour study. 

First off, I did a very bad thing by sketching in the profile.  A complete NO NO when doing speed painting.  As you can see in my last post, this really kicked my ass as I was not able to complete the entire piece within the time limit.  It did however, help later on in the detailing process.  I kinda knew that I would want to take this further than just 2 hours, so I went ahead and laid down some marks for future reference.

Would love to get feedback and comments on my process and share tips and techniques.  All comments are welcome

Edit:  About sharing techniques.  Again, I want to specify that this technique was used for the previous post which was to study a specific hair style in two hours.  I don't usually begin by detailing the hair as done here in fact, I usually end with it.  Which is probably just as detrimental to the overall look.  This technique was used in an attempt to get some decent hair style down on the canvas within two hours without spending too much time on the facial features which usually take me way to long

I'm sure DA is packed with interesting techniques for different projects, such as environments, anatomy and perspective to name but a few.  If anyone has any to share I'd love to see them in the comments
